I don't think I can buy your argument, Katy. A wind instrument gives
essentially no information that an experienced observer can't deduce by eye. On a trailerable boat, an anemometer is a pain to deal with. "katysails" wrote in message ... Katy, I'm not sure you have a proper appreciation for the great traditions and history of sailing through the years. Ah, but I do, we sailed with only a compass, and then only a compass and radio for years....If any of the hitorical figures you mentioned had instruments, they might have been better off, known where they were going, and foreseen problems. -- katysails s/v Chanteuse Kirie Elite 32 http://katysails.tripod.com "Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." - Robert A.
