I can't really go into it right now, but we're pretty ****ed off about the
latest in a series of mindless petty irritations... Seahag. If I didn't know better I'd be guessing that you were at White Rocks Marina on Rock Creek. S/V Express 30 "Ringmaster" "No shirt, no skirt, full service" |

I'm so close to having enough money to fix the rig, I sure don't want to blow it on moving costs. At least until the van is paid off come January! Seahag |

I know 2 more people who left White Rocks this year. One guy moved his boat
during the winter to an empty safer slip. Didn't think it would matter since most slips were empty due to boats being pulled. The manager called him and told him to move it back. He went down the same day and moved it back. A few days later he got a letter in the mail to get out. S/V Express 30 "Ringmaster" "No shirt, no skirt, full service" |

I don't think the marinas care about their reputations anymore, there are probably 10 boats waiting for every slip around here. Seahag |

Haggie observed: I don't
think the marinas care about their reputations anymore, there are probably 10 boats waiting for every slip around here. That was one of the reasons we switched to a mooring and the yacht club environment. The marina that we had been at for years became "popular" with a certain sort of boater, and all of a sudden there was a waiting list. Along with that came a nonchalance about work performed by the yard. When confronted about mistakes, or poor quality workmanship, they would laugh it off and refuse to make good. If they didn't feel like performing some type of work they would quote an exorbitant figure to make you go elsewhere. And when sailing is supposed to be your "release" from the rest of the daily crud, who needs problems there? -- katysails s/v Chanteuse Kirie Elite 32 http://katysails.tripod.com "Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." - Robert A. And when sailing is supposed to be your "release" from the rest of the daily crud, who needs problems there? I hear a lot of stories like that. I'm glad that my yard is run by people who care and having a slip expands the use and care of the boat. This weekend I'm taking out some elderly folk. I'm lucky to have a slip. RB |

And when sailing is supposed to be your "release" from the rest of the daily crud, who needs problems there? My place is real popular with the Speedboat/Cigarboat freaks. But they have only 3 uncovered sailboat slips. Most sailboaters will not come here because of the noise the powerboaters make. But the pbr's hate it when it to hot, and when its to cold, so I have most of the time the place to myself. They pay out the nose for thier covered slips. The marina owner give me a good deal because he want's me to live here and watch out for things. I'm offical F dock security, I run off all the fishing guys and lovers that want to use the island. Ive lived at several marinas and can tell you the only way I will ever get a better deal is if I buy my marina. I have my eye on 3 acres of deep water fronted land. But the asking price is 300K. It would make a nice 3-4 boat marina and allow me space to build a house. It has a small cinder block type storage house on it now. It borders a wildlife refuge of 6000+ acres and I will never have to worry about the surrounding land being developed. Just need the 300K. Donations accepted! Joe |

The guy that runs White Rocks on a daily basis is a dimwit. His father is the real owner who also owns Mike's Crab House down your way. It's too bad the old man doesn't know what goes on at the marina. S/V Express 30 "Ringmaster" "No shirt, no skirt, full service" |
