That's what I heard, something about sand or crud getting in between the
sealing area. I was considering one, but my packing is very easy to get to
and adjust.

It's a major hassle tightening the packing on my boat- very hard to
reach unless you're that comic book guy from the Fantastic Four with
the really long arms...
