From: Peter Wiley The ship, otn mentioned, is probably the US counterpart to the Aurora Australis. Yeah, I see your USCG vessels come through here every couple years. Had a good wander around 'Polar Star' a while back, probably couldn't do that nowadays. G Just needs the right ID. The ship in OTN's post is a breakbulk freighter that runs supplies from US with stops at Christchurch/Littleton and then returns with BG "trash". 6mm aluminium plate all seams fully welded to prevent water freezing and breaking skip welds, twin 6 cyl diesels driving Hamilton jets. About 6.5 tonnes each, they're nice toys. Sounds like the same basic boat .... small bow ramp? Shen |
