oxzy, it means words mean what words mean UNLESS Aldous Huxley's Brave New
World language NewSpeak comes into play. (such as claiming that "edification"
does not mean "edification").

I was wondering out loud if the City-State of Australia had declared NewSpeak
as the language of the realm.

ah, you are saying that city-state speak is NOT Newspeak?

You know Jocks, till then I was with you....now?

Well it's all getting a little wierd..

Oz1...of the 3 twins.

The ship, otn mentioned, is probably the US counterpart to the Aurora
Australis.

Yeah, I see your USCG vessels come through here every couple years. Had
a good wander around 'Polar Star' a while back, probably couldn't do
that nowadays.

G Just needs the right ID.
The ship in OTN's post is a breakbulk freighter that runs supplies from US with
stops at Christchurch/Littleton and then returns with BG "trash".

6mm aluminium plate all seams fully welded to prevent water freezing
and breaking skip welds, twin 6 cyl diesels driving Hamilton jets.
About 6.5 tonnes each, they're nice toys.

Sounds like the same basic boat .... small bow ramp?

Plenty of trash at Mac Town I believe. It'd be good if the USA removed
more of it. We're slowly clearing 50+ years of crap from our bases and
it's a logistic PITA but has to be done under the treaty.

Hobart is one of the regular stops for vessels bound to Antarctica so
we see nearly all of them come through over a few seasons.

No, these are planing hulls capable of doing 30+ knots. Which can be
real exciting if someone tries doing this in brash ice :-) We use them
for science support, diving parties etc. One has a moon pool (small) so
we can dangle transducers and the like through the bottom. The first
one we equipped with twin outboards to save money and ease servicing
(easier to pull an outboard off the back & take it to a heated workshop
than pull the boat or work on a motor at -10C) but it was a bad idea.
One example of a field trial where things worked fine at HO but not in
the field. We'll cut the stern open and refit it with diesels.

Probably build another one in a year or so. The demand for support is
increasing, Next season I'll be sending 2 dive supervisors south for
the summer. Have to get the ads ready.......
