I was told between Merican & Metric tools you could cover the Whitworth stuff. Yeah, pretty much true I'd say. I just have a pile of Whitworth spanners etc because I got them somewhere, cheap. Maybe off my father originally, he owned a Brit Riley car most of his life. My personal POV is that you can't say enough bad things about Brit cars, bikes & especially Lucas electrics. I once made the mistake of owning a Land Rover and could get the gearbox out & on the bench in 45 minutes cos I knew the precise sequence of disassembly, having done it a large number of times. After that I bought a Mitsubishi 4WD and am still driving it, original drivetrain, 22 years later. Might have to get the MIG welder to the tray one of these days, tho. Then again I obviously work on a bigger variety of stuff than you do, and of a lot more modern vintage. If all you have is a 60's Detroit iron car and a boat of similar vintage, you won't need much. Tip for you, though. Don't go far from US territorial waters. Nothing is going to go well for you, with your mindset. PDW |
