How do the coll regs apply to kite surfers?

Are they sailing vessels?

Imagine that you are sailing North in a westerly breeze, when you see a kite
surfer dead on the bow. It is still a good distance off, but it is doing
about 25 kts. - and it is on a collission course.

What would you do?

Good question.

We are heading north, and the wind is from the west. Therefore, we are on
port tack.

How do we determine which tack a kite surfer is on?

The wind is coming over his starboard rail.

It isn't? You are heading north in a westerly and he's coming toward you
from ahead? On my thinking the wind would be coming over the starboard
rail -no?

What rail? The kite surfers that I have seen are only two, to three foot
long.

It's a technical term Donal for the edge.
