Default Winter

I think I'd just rather have it hauled, even if I paint it myself.
Seems like a lot of hassle and an incomplete job.

I sail up to St. Augustine, FL where's there's four to
five feet of tide, go to my favorite sandbar back in the
bay there and ground the boat at high tide. Then it's
a matter of letting the tide go out and making sure the
boat leans towards the high side of the bar. Then it's
out with the sandpaper soon as the bottom dries and
two or three coats of paint go on the side that's showing
nicely.

Then when the tide comes back up it's a matter of turning
the boat around and leaning it the other way and painting
the other side. The only place that cannot be painted this
way is the very bottom of the keel. That can be done
underwater though the paint never really dries very good
this way.

Sounds like a good deal Neal... how do you manage to
get it up on blocks to paint the bottom without a lift?

That's really cheap. Since the Canadian dollar is worth
about 60 cents US you are practically getting a haulout
for nothing.

But, guess what? I pay NOTHING for my water and
electricity. I can step and unstep my own mast without
the help of a crane. I can careen and paint my bottom
without the help of a yard.

I'm a real sailor while you're a semi-lubber.

| 4K would be about right for a 40 footer at a Brewer's yard. $44

per
foot
for storage,
| $16/f + materials for shrink, $10/f to leave mast in, more to

unrig
and
store.
| Decommissioning engine, genset, etc. It adds up fast when you go

first
class.

| USCG doc's, a

and
even
| take you for a sail, that should cover the $4k for the storage.

|
| 4K for storage. Even at Capri that would be a 65 foot boat. Now

we
know
you
| don't have a boat.
