| Alright, Ozzy. Let him go. It's my fishing trip and I get the catch of the
day!

Hooking Up is a Long long way from Landing... careful you don't get dragged
in ...again.

No fair... I was waiting on two calls and cleaned the shop during that time.
Don't be jealous because I'm suddenly popular.

Ozzy was in the kitchen for a while....

| If you think that, then why do you say it's okay for it to be reposted in
| the group anyway?
|
| Because that can be ignored. We can carry on a discussion direct
unhampered by
| a zillion trolls.
| Mooron understands that. He's not interested in any "facts." He's happy
that I
| won't post details as everyone can plainly tell. But as Thom pointed out,
I
| have the upper hand on the nay sayers....in spades!
|
| I feel bad for mooron. I know things are bad when I come home for a short
sail
| to 75 posts plus with him at the center!

Passage planning would include a look at charts to know about hazards
and working light houses.

Wally, I'm no expert, but do well enough for the limited grounds we cover.
If you'd like specifics of how we planned for our little adventure

(Currents,

weather, and plotting a short course) e-mail me direct.
In thier efforts to troll, many people here bury any chance for a good

exchange.

Surely the best way to defuse their attempts to troll is to post whatever
you would otherwise email? Facts are poor troll bait, are they not?
Consider, for example, the recent discourse on Neal's specification LWL
compared to what it really is, even allowing for his reduced freeboard - the
spec LWL just doesn't add up, and nobody came a-trollin' on the matter when
this was pointed out.

As you've already noted, there is little basis for the trolls to claim that
you weren't at the Thimbles - the pics have largely defused any such claims.
(By the same token, I take the same lack as evidence that you were indeed
there - I have no idea what the Thimbles look like, but I assume from the
silence of others that the photos are of said Thimbles.)

In any case, as you're no expert, input from the group might be good for
you, too. I would certainly relish the opportunity to read and partcipate in
a good group discussion of coastal passage planning.

Please Bob.... stop your thrashing. You are falling back on your tried

and
true "Hooo Haaa" defense. I'm not attacking anyone... I'm seeking
clarification which you seem unable or unwilling to supply. Why is that
Bob? You boast of a report and provide a rather sketchy overview of

items
which might interest a lubber but means nothing at all to a sailor.

Speaking as a sweet, innocent, fresh-faced n00b who will, hopefully in a

few
weeks, be embarking on hs first cruise in his vast, ocean-going 18-foot
mega-yacht, I would be most interested in hearing of Bobsprit's journey in
some detail in the hope that I might learn something about passage
planning - all that wind and tide stuff and how it's calculated.

Wally,
when you need to take a leak, you don't try to pee to windward.
When you want to learn about sailing, you don't ask Bob..... especially if
the trip is going to be more that 3 nautical miles!

If you want to learn about passage planning, just ask. You could start
some (badly needed) great threads.

Regards

Bob,...... passage planning could make for some great discussion. Why do
you want to deny the ng of the opportunity to have a real sailing
discuussion?

Tell us how you calculated the effects of tide on your course to steer.
Tell us how the weather forecast affected your plans. Tell us how the
actual weather affected your trip. Did everything go according to plan?

And still you've not asked for anything specific. My Mailbox is empty.

Mailbox?? This _IS_ supposed to be a sailing newsgroup.

Why won't you discuss sailing here? Are you no better than Peter, or
Bertie?

Booo Hoooooo.... Cripes! There's no Crying in Sailing!

Anyway... I never shouted and asked for some very basic details.
Obviously he was unable to answer and felt embarrassed.....

Ummmm, he avoids real discussion with requests to "take it to private

Try to keep up!

What he knows is the sudden realization that his credibility is non
existent... and that he has arrived at this junction on his own merits.

Bob's not a bad guy... he funny and entertaining and I believe he does try
to be nice.... but I'd check for my watch and rings after shaking hands
with him. [at least that is the impression I've gotten from his online
presence]
