your autograph???? I(I stood in back of Charton Heston at the
drugstore and then rushed outside to watch him zoom off in a yellow
Corvette...I was 16 at the time...)

The event was quite serendipitous Katy. A friend had season tickets to the
playhouse but couldn't go that night, and he offered them to me. My wife and
I took our seats early. GP came in late, and sat down in the empty seat next
to me. It wasn't until he cleared his throat that I realized it was GP! His
voice was that distinctive. He was friendly and I did my best to not appear
starstruck; I didn't even ask for his autograph, just told him to give our
compliments to his daughter for a fine performance.
My friend, the owner of the tickets, has never quite forgiven me, lol.

Ganz,

I hear (haha, E network) Hitchcock had a real weakness for the fairer sex.

Hey, I met Hitchcock, most of the cast of the TV Mash, George
Peppard, Shirley Jones, and I was Sean Cassidy's camp consellor.
I hate to admit it, but I also met Angie Dickinson and Burt, when
I lived in So. Cal. Hitch was the most interesting. We shook hands,
and he said, "Pleased to meet you," in his typical elongated speech.
He was quite senile at the time, but he did manage to remember my
name when we met again after the showing of his movie Rear Window.
He gave a little speech to introduce it, but they had to escort him off
the stage, as he was starting to ramble.

God what a slobbering idiot.

The bigest celebreties I ever met I told to shut up, sit down and be quiet
before I had them arrested.

You must be truly blessed...I would have to stand upside down before a
statue of St jude for soemthing of that moment to occur..(I would have had
to bite my tongue to NOT ask for an autograph...)

I got to see the Bertie the Bunyip show in Philadelphia when I was a kid. As
it turned out, Bertie was never his friendly or chatty self until some
strange man shoved his big hairy arm up Bertie's ass. The kids were
traumatized by the scene, but I remember how Bertie's perpetual smile
stretched from one long floppy ear to the other.

I have no doubt that that is exactly the way you remember it.
