Default Pictures of "Cut the Mustard" under sail

My attitude was that second place was just another term for first last... if
you ain't the lead dog... the view don't change... why not have a beer?
Actually we were hung over and just having a bit of "hair of the dog" so to
speak.

The other guys on the race were hurting so bad it didn't matter. It was one
of those sail to a mark 40 miles out and party like it's 1773 and hit the
start line at the same mark [fairway buoy] at 0800hrs. Over half the boats
got late starts and I took advantage of my crew of experienced alcoholics to
gain an edge on the second leg. The year before I tried an all female crew
and convinced them to go topless to slow the other boats down for a view....
I still only placed 3rd in a fleet of 8.

Bill won every year he was there. The year he left I whipped the fleet
including a Niagara 35 with a race crew from Victoria BC. I kicked their
butts and left the fleet way back in steady 40 kt winds with full canvas
downwind.
