Someone posted recently about their waterproof camera. After taking a 'one use' camera on my last paddle and ending up with nothing useable I may invest in a 'real' waterproof one. I still don't own a digital camera although I do have a miniDV camcorder which does 1Meg stills. My options are to get an Aquapac for camcorder and shoot video too! Buy a normal camera and get an Aquapac for it. Buy a true WP digital camera. Anyone else gone through this thought process recently ? I decided a properly waterproof camera would be the way forward, as has a pal who has an Aquapac and has subsequently gone for the Actual Waterproof. Note that many (most?) digital cameras will do video to some extent, and if it's just the odd bit here and there may well suffice. However, I've decided to wait for the prices to come down, as partly I don't take many pictures, and partly I have a spare old Olympus XA1 compact which is completely manual, takes reasonable pictures and is effectively expendable in case of disaster (as I have an XA3 as my main camera). In good conditions it lives in a BA pocket, if it's looking dodgier I'll put it in a Camera Care bag and pop that in a ziploc bag or mapcase and stow it in the cockpit. Hasn't been problem so far except it doesn't detect film speed automagically. I had it set for 400 ASA instead of 100 and all my pics of Fingal's Cave came out /really/ dark. Bah!
