![]() These are my favorite ships maybe because my father, grandfather and grandgrandfather sailed them for a living. They brought cargo from one place to another in the shallow waters in the north of The Netherlands. They are called skūtsjes and have a flatbottom. In stead of a keel they have leeboards. Still every year the perfectly conservated ships have a competition in racing against each other, its great to see how people handle this ships. We call that event every year "Skūtsjesilen" you see here some pictures from I did not made the pictures but found them years ago on the world wide web. So all the credits go to the fotographer.
