It's over. You lost big time. Get over it.

Heh. I had to laugh. I remember someone saying that to Harry.
Took him eight years.

Now he can gloat and, **** & moan, simultaneously. It's like he died and
went to heaven, or wherever he would go.

Now we can look to the future and remember there will always be *someone*
here to defend/rationalize every *O* and democrat mis-step along the way.
Oh, and find a way to blame it on Bush and those nasty evangelicals.

The only difference is us "wingers" (moderate republicans) won't spend
the next 4 years making up stories, namecalling, and running
interference for our worst criminals, in an attempt to subvert our
elected government... We will probably buck up, pay more taxes, and
hope for the future. Time will tell.

The only thing for certain is Harry, James, Salty, et al will probably
continue to spin, dance, attack and do what they can to drive any
oppositition away from the conversation. This is not a party of
tolerance or compromise, they have proven to be a party of hate and
censorship...They can't help but sit back and throw stones... So buck
up and keep working, someone will have to pay for their folly. I'm
still waiting for Obama to say something about health care

Last "moderate Republican" I remember was Dick Nixon.
Since then they've been as whacky as the Dems.
You might be too young to remember Everett Dirksen's voice.
Cool.
Hey, check this out. Spiro Agnew rapping.
Found it looking for an example of Dirksen.
Very nicely done vid about the "silent majority."

Though it's knocking the "silent majority," I pretty much maintain my
membership until voting time. Voted for Nixon twice.
On election day we all get to shout.
God Bless America.
BTW, see if you spot the boats in the vid.
Though it's meant to be a propaganda spoof, the underlying chant of
"shut up and work" unwittingly gets at the heart of what ails this
country.

Here's a link to a c-span site that has some old interviews with the likes
of Everett Dirksen, Hubert Humphrey, Barry Goldwater, etc.

It took a minute or so for the page to begin loading, but then did so
quickly. There's a couple of 45 minute interviews with Dirksen. Fun to
listen to that distinctive voice and personality behind it again.

I lived in Illinois while Dirksen was senator. I always remember his famous
line, "a billion here, a billion there and pretty soon we're talking real
money". Of course back in his day a billion bought a lot more than today.

Thanks. For some reason I always get a "page can't be displayed"
error. Maybe tomorrow it'll work.
