Either way, steer clear of Samsung **** if at all possible, just a

More idiocy. I've had a Samsung 214T monitor for my Windoze Desktop for
at least three years, and it has never hiccuped.

Pssst, there's a big difference between a computer monitor and a HD
television.

Like what? I watch TV on my computer and occasionally hook up my laptop to
the TV. I suspect the resolution of a computer one though is much better
but both work to watch a video. And one I have is now over 6 years old, 19"
TFT Samsung and still works great.

One of our HD tvs also works just fine as a computer monitor.

I've been using a Samsung 955DF for about 5 years and it's been a good
monitor. Don't know the tech details, but I've heard there's a big
difference between a monitor and TV, especially the resolution.
But after justwait's experience there's no way in hell I'd consider a
Samsung slimfit 27" TV.
I've got a Sharp 27" that's been solid for 10 years.
Another same model I bought went kaput after 8 years.
I don't take it personally because he hammered Samsung and I'm using a
Samsung monitor. I don't own Samsung stocks and I ain't the CEO.
When you get burned, you shy away from that manufacturer.
I won't touch Sony. Burned twice.
Best to do some research first, especially on new models.
That's why I drive old cars. Their bonafides are established.

He's just an ass.. If he can't find it on Google, he is useless.. Of
course if he did a little research he would find that there has been a
lot of trouble with Samsung TV's lately. I have never seen such a bad
to good comment ratio on Amazon, usually it's just filled with kids
ranting about something they bought three days ago...The only good
thing about Harry's posts are you know if he said it, it's a lie..

That's interesting, I'm going to look into it.

You are too quick to call people idiots, asshole.
I have a Samsung DVD recorder that had to be sent back 3 times before it
* came back repaired. Even when it is working the software is real
klunky. * I have 4 Samsung LCD TVs. One 40", one 27", and 2 20". Three
of them get shaken up quite a bit. The software in all the TVs is
klunky, but they are all still working. Knock on wood.

Here's more proof Harry is the idiot:

Samsung SlimFit TXT2782 27 in. Flat Screen CRT TV

Absolute garbage
by z3rgling , Jul. 7, 2008
Comments:
I purchased my first on in April 07. It died in late September 07. It
turned off while watching it then would not turn back on again. I
contacted samsung customer service and got jerked around by 2
different repair centers they outsource warranty work to. It took
samsung until january 08 to replace it. Last night I was watching the
replacement set and it died wile watching it in the same manner as the
first. This one lasted almost 7 months! Now they claim I am no longer
under warranty and I am more or less stuck purchasing a new
television. I will NEVER buy another Samsung product again after this.

Beware the flat tube!
Purchased this TV and returned it after a week. Couldn't stand the
picture anymore. Overall picture was okay, but the flat tube
apparently has problems. Scrolling tickers across the bottom of the
screen appear to be waving in the breeze. I looked at other flat tubes
when I returned it, and saw 3 more on display with the same problem.
Any horizontal graphic looks curved, bowed, or slanted -- anything but
straight and level. Also, very difficult to get accurate colors on
this TV. Much better off t...

Buyer Beware
Too bad I didn't research this product before shelling out $400 at
Best Buy. It died after 5 weeks. I can't return it to Best Buy after
thirty days. I went three weeks before Samsung replaced the
motherboard. It failed again. We haven't had a television again for 3
weeks. Now Samsung says it needs another motherboard. Samsung won't
replace it, or say that it's unfixable. I don't want it replaced with
the same television even if that were an option. I've never had a root
canal (as one reviewer wr...

Lasted 7 days!
Picture was great for 6 days! On the 7th day, it rested.

Now it just displays a white zig-zag line on a grey background. Glad
it blew up during the return period.

After reading other reviews today, I assume mine must have slipped
past quality control. Most units last about a month before major
problems and the buyer is stuck with warranty repairs. I guess Samsung
will have to eat this one!

Dead TV
The new Samsung died today ... we bought it new about 5 weeks ago.
When I went on line and did a review search for this particular TV, I
found that other people also had this problem. We are going to return
this one and keep trying until we get one that works for more than a
month. Why? Because my husband likes the picture, size and price. We
bought our last TV in 1989 and it lasted until January 2008.

Volume problem and now, no power at all.
The volume of this model does not seem to go any further than about
32 and any higher setting doesn't give you any more sound.

Have had this TV for almost 11 months and the power has now gone.
Having it repaired under warranty but not buying another one.

And it goes on and on!

Speaking of that, when I bought my first 19' CRT monitor at Best Buy,
I bought a 2-year replacement warranty. The monitor, a KD, was about
$425, and the warranty was only 25 bucks.
I usually don't get these warranties, but thought the exceptional
price spread justified it in this case.
The monitor died at 23 months.
I hauled it to the store and after a little argument about what
"replacement" meant, walked out with the Samsung after paying
about 50 bucks for the difference in list price.
I got the same warranty again, but it cost me about 75 bucks.
Guess they were learning their lesson.
And I wasted 75 bucks this time.
I always ask what they want for the replacement warranty when I get
items like this. Usually they don't make financial sense, but
sometimes they do.
