I've explained how to adjust every aspect of firefox to you previously. about:config You are not paying attention. Read and think before you mouth off. Eisboch Mine is set not to record any history and I never see anything but bookmarks in that window. There is also an option to record session history and clear history at the end of a session, if you want to do that. |

A while back I was complaining about Firefox and the "text size" setting. You could increase it for a session, but it automatically defaulted back to normal when Firefox was closed and then restarted. The new version fixed that. Now, it's called "zoom" instead of "text size", and once set to your liking, it remains set, even after you close and then restart Firefox. Only complaint I have is that apparently there is no way to clear the URL location history. That's the box that opens when you click on the little arrow on the right side of the URL field and displays several previously visited website URL's. That used to clear when you cleared history, I think, but no more, and there's no obvious way of clearing it. Not a big deal, but it's annoying. Eisboch Tools Options Privacy Private Data Once you get there it should be obvious how to make the selections you are interested in. Tried that, but didn't see any pertinent selections. Did the "clear private data" using the default checked boxes, but that didn't do it. Went to "help" and searched for "clear url location" and found a couple of comments by other users. Both said it can't be cleared in the new version of Firefox. ??????? Eisboch Tools, options, privacy has options for history retention (set to zero) and clearing private data when exiting firefox. Do these not work? Nope. This is Firefox version 3.0.1 I just updated to it yesterday. The URL location box remains no matter what I do to clear it. Eisboch Same version I updated to a couple weeks ago. Are you using Vista? I'm using XP, although I wouldn't think that would make any difference. Under 'Privacy', I've got options for History, Cookies, and Private Data. Under Private Data, I've got options for always clearing when closing and ask me first. I've also got a settings section which allows me to chose from eight different types of 'Private Data'. Something screwy here. Using XP. Same deal, but are you *sure* it is clearing your URL field location memory? Eisboch Yup. I just tried it. I selected, "Always clear my private data when I close Firefox". I then closed it. When I reopened the only thing in History was the page that had opened, my home page. I have Firefox 3.01, and the clear will clear my history, but I had the same problem Eisboch had, it would not clear the address bar of the history. Then I realized the address bar was not saving my history, but was showing me my favorites. I just took me a while to figure out what Eisboch was talking about. It's simply further proof of what a totally inept assholish idiot I am when it comes to computers. (Or, to save Harry the trouble, anything else in life.) I'm surprised neither of our two 'experts', jimaitch or aitch kaye, didn't jump in to help Eisboch. I am glad you realized you don't know anything about anything. it is important to understand your limitations. ![]() On a serious note, you do seem to have your priorities correct as far as your family and wife. When you use any of the settings in the drop down menus, it's just making changes in the config file. |
