Eisboch I think it reasonable for a presidential candidate to know how many houses he and his wife own. I wonder if McCain knows what a half gallon of milk or a dozen eggs sell for? I doubt it. Neither do I. I haven't had a glass of milk or a real, home cooked egg in about 3 years. So what? Eisboch You're not running for public office. Someone who is...should Don't you go to the supermarket? |

Eisboch You're not running for public office. Someone who is...should Don't you go to the supermarket? Very rarely. We don't have kids living in the house anymore. There's no reason for me to be current with the price of a gallon of milk. So, I don't have a clue, and I don't think it makes any difference if I were running for public office or not. I *do* know, based on conversations with my daughter who feeds two growing boys with bottomless pits and my two sons' wives and their families that food costs are going out of sight. I know pretty accurately how much they all spend a week for food. I think *that's* important to know, not an itemized grocery shopping list. Ask McCain about the high cost of food. I think he has an idea. Ask him how much a lb. of boloney costs and I won't hold it against him if he doesn't have the current answer on the tip of his tongue. This stupid stuff is nothing but political spin and frankly, it is an insult to the intelligence of the American people. Eisboch |

Eisboch Democrats always fall this cult of personality like they have done for Obama..It is part of their pathology of wanting to be taken care of by a father figure. Remember how many Dems thought papa Joe Stalin was ok and they went into near depression when Krushev denounced him? Remember how many Dems went gaga over Mao? They always do this because the average Dem isnt smart enough to take care of himself so they need an authority figure to tell them what to do. |

They always do this because the average Dem isnt smart enough to take care of himself so they need an authority figure to tell them what to do. Unfortunately, it's more. It's about power. Scaring the average guy, promising him security and social welfare is a means of building it. Personalities and individuals aside, I believe in a system whereby people are guaranteed the opportunity to take care of themselves and their families, to whatever level they aspire, in whatever legal means they desire. Our social obligation is to provide for those that simply cannot, for whatever physical or mental reason, do it for themselves. It isn't perfect by any means, but we are obligated to continue working at it. One of my fears is that due to the rapid changes in the world today, the global economy, the rise of the economic strength of other nations, that we may be duped into the "security" mode of thinking and lose much of what this country was founded on. No offense, but that is the biggest crop of crap I have seen posted here in a long, long time. If you want political cult of personality in this country, look no farther than Ronald Reagan, and the efforts of Republicans to name every damned thing everywhere after him. How many Democrats thought Stalin was OK? How many went gaga over Mao? I'm old enough and educated enough to remember both of those guys, and I recall reading many times that Roosevelt, the leading Democrat of his time, had nothing but disdain for Stalin. His successor, Harry S Truman, had no use for Stalin, either. What you posted is bull**** piled upon bull**** piled upon bull****. |

How about the great mouthpiece of the DNC, the NYT and their defense of Stalin by saying they saw no famine in the Ukraine They even wond a Pulitzer for that one. All those 60s radicals have mostly become Dems and they all loved Mao. Remember, "I'd like to teach the world to sing, in perfect Mandarin, with Uncle Ho, Chairman Mao, fidel and Madame Binh......." Roosevelt and Truman would have nothing to do with the Dem party of today. Even Kennedy was more right wing than McCain. |
