I was raised in a religious household, and no one in "the clergy" ever put any pressure on me to do anything financial other than to be charitable, and the charity was not specified. Now, if I wanted to become a "member" of the "local" of the religious organization, there were dues and fees, but those were voluntary...if you want to be in a "club," you pay the dues. Now, I won't deny there are religions that do exactly as you say. |
