This digital change over is going to be a diaster.

Mark my words.

Wonder if the US gov't would send a couple of those free converters up here.
I have two 19" JVC analog sets, left behind by my sons, that work perfectly.

But all in all, my wife pays about 100$ per month for sat. TV. basicly
1200$ a year for watching a tube.

I'd like to can the whole thing myself. Or put up an antenna and go
back to freebie.

I haven't been following the TV ads, so is my assumption that TV
broadcasting is coming to an end over the "airwaves" next year correct?

I dont't hink it will. You can use a standard TV on cable or Sat. but
all stations will be forced to broadcast digital, so you have to have
a digital compliant TV or a converter box to pick up over-the-air
broadcasting, or at least that's how I understand it.

I hear ya...that's what my wife pays for cable service including 13 HD
channels.
A lot of it is repeated....some programs/games are on four different
channels at once and then again later on from the west coast stations.
When we have over the air HD... I may pull the cable plug.
Trouble is...we only have 3 english and one french station here.
