They may soon be coming to a neighborhood near you. Apparently, they are an invasive species from Central America, and are working their way north along the coast. I've been fortunate never to have had a problem driving through them, but I do remember a time I was sitting outside on a lawn. Literally, one minute there was nothing, 5 minutes later they were everywhere, coming out from the lawn. It was like someone had thrown a switch. They have an incredible sense of timing. To me at least, they don't seem to be as numerous in FL as they were. Today's pollen count in ATL is 1705. ========================================== I've been in Florida full time for 16 years and the love bug population may vary from year to year. Last year was as bad or worse than I've ever experienced. After even the shortest drives in the car I had to get out the bug remover and clean them off when returning home. If we take trips during the "season" I carry required cleaning supplies to clean the car before the little devils can damage the paint. |
