Didn't realize FL alligators were so picky. Mississippi alligators
love salt water and beaches. The Wildlife guys haul them out of the
small craft harbor on a regular basis. And they're abundant (and
large) on the barrier islands. They don't bother anybody though. I
guess we just don't taste good.

They are not. I see them in the Estero Bay from time to time and
Sanibel used to be loaded with them with a 12 footer that shuttled
back and forth from the beach near the Shreaton to the Dairy Queen,
until one ate a real estate woman. Up until then I thought they had
some professional courtesy.

At Hilton Head Island, every water trap on the golf courses have at
least one LARGE alligator living high on the hog. They normally keep
their distance from the golfers until someone thinks it might be cute to
poke the alligator with there ball retriever. I guess they didn't
understand how fast an alligator can move when he wants too. They soon
learn, and probably soil a really ugly pair of golf slacks.

Whenever I go to a restaurant that offers alligator, I always order it.
When it is pounded thin, it is delicious and tender. I used to love
veal, but gave it up when I read about the health concerns from
excessive antibodies used and the terrible living conditions for the
calf. I find alligator to have a similar flavor as veal.
