Really nice boat, if you are into oversized center consoles, but IPS drives? On a fishing boat? According to the voice-over, the draft is about 40-inches. Man, I would hate to touch bottom with those thingies on the bottom of the hull...much worse consequences than simply dinging a prop. What a boat, though. A "few" years ago I fished with a 25 HP Merc. It had some sort of a clutch in the drive train. I can't even begin to count the number of times the prop hit something. Nothing ever broke. The skeg and prop got dinged but kept on going. I appreciate the fact that there are substantial differences in the stresses encountered in a 25 HP vs a 225 HP drive train. With todays technology could it not be possible to engineer a similar system? Are manufactures too indifferent or are consumers too cheap? As the OP suggested that bottom touching clunk has often brought tears to the eyes of full grown men. LdB |
