If not the greatest,Tom? he's a dang good runner up! When America was growing by leaps and bounds, and when there was plenty of work, even for the unskilled, these aphorisms made more sense. Nowadays, with jobs being exported overseas wholesale and with major manufacturers offering to buy out their current workforces so they can hire new workers at half the rate and with no benefits, well...it's no wonder workers are looking elsewhere for a fair share. It's the end result of the Republican credo of corporate greed - "I've got mine, so screw you." Really! I could have sworn it's the battle cry of union sheeple. |

He was the Paul Wolfowitz of his time. Spent much time & energy behind the scenes, goading McKinley into invading the Phillippines, just for grins. |

Have it morph into a disability insurance fund and only take the employers portion of the SS contribution. Make it the responsibility of the individual to contribute their portion of the SS contribution to an 401k or IRA. |

1. A much quicker end to Bush's war against Iraq. The 'war' has been over for quite a while. The cleanup action and building a government is underway now. Yes, the Democrats would pull out and accomplish neither. We can hope they will stop pandering and exercise some sense if and when they take office. 2. Defanging of certain anti-civil-liberty parts of the "Patriot Act." Hell, do away with airport security also. It's a waste of money, and becoming a bigger waste. 3. A beginning of a real program to provide access to health insurance for all. This one and number 6 go well together. Let's see...double the tax rates anyone? 4. An end to the anti-abortion b.s. legislation and possible Supreme Court decisions with the first appointment or two to that court. Hell, baby killing is nothing! Not giving terrorists their 'constitutional' rights is horrid. 5. An end to restrictions on stem cell research. There are no restrictions. You don't like the government spending your money on Jesus, and I don't like the government spending my money on another way to take life. 6. A methodology to begin balancing the federal budget. That's easy, tax the **** out of everyone, except those who don't want to work. Give them the money. 7. Real enforcement of environmental and worker safety laws. Be sure to double or triple the size of the government while you're at it. 8. An end to the anti-science mindset of the White House. Believe anything you hear about global warming, unless it's science saying otherwise. 9. An end to a presidency built upon fear. Ah yes, the palsy-walsy approach to negotiation. Give 'em whatever they want, then they'll be nice to us. 10.An end to anti-gay attacks from the executive and legislative branches. This from one who has done nothing but for a long time. 11.Programs to try to curtail the flow of decent jobs from this country. But let's be sure to raise corporate tax rates and union costs. 12.An end to the demonization of Latinos. Open borders? Legal Latinos aren't 'demonized'. Illegal aliens, whether Latino or not, should not be here. And much more. If you want to dispute my belief that those are among the top issues a Democratic president will work for, why you go right ahead. There's nothing on my list that is an insinuation or allegation. Your list is horse****. -- John H |

Not giving terrorists their 'constitutional' rights is horrid. The abortion issue is actually not something politicians care about or want to deal with. They use it as a tool, a wedge. It's a good tool because it involves babies and religion, so it makes for fabulously emotional debates. But, it will never EVER be an issue that anyone agrees on. Same with gun control, although that's even stickier because all anyone can do with that is debate the meaning of one sentence in the 2nd amendment. |

It sounds like an issue that should be left to the states. The gun control issue should reach a head in June, when the Supreme Court get to the DC issue. -- John H |

Not anywhere else, though. |
