This was a "beta" upgrade to VISTA and apparently I was getting an error code no one else was. The only downside was that the beta upgrade would not install. Got a nice email today, telling me not to worry about it because after sending in some files to MS and some logs, the "team" had figured out the problem and that it would be "fixed." There's more to the explanation, but this particular SmithersDungHoleisn't the place for rational adult discussion. If you are interested, I'll be glad to forward the email to you. |

Harry did you end up using Bill Y.'s advice? "Harry Krause" wrote in message I feel your pain because I had an issue that I couldn't solve and I finally resorted to a new install. When I did the install, I knew exactly what was going in the computer. Once I got the system to where I wanted, I use Acronis to do a backup just in case something else crashed. You said that your machine is new. If it's within a few months, maybe they will take it back. I guess there is no easy answer when something doesn't work as advertised. Very frustrating indeed. Maybe there is a way you can get the company to exchange Vista and use XP. Just a suggestion. I wish I had a dollar for every time my PC crashed. I need to use Microsoft products because I do software development and that pays the bills. |

If Harry doesn't know it, it's not worth knowing. Add to that, that if he has a big problem, he'll just bring it up to Bill Gates the next time he has him down on his Zimmerman like lobster boat. |
