So many people's computers were turned useless by Kazaa's spyware, and required reformatting/OS reinstall. Lots of geeks made money doing that for customers. Yeah, that's the one. My son was home then, and put it on my computer, which was the only one in the house. Being a geek, I fixed it myself with no reinstall. And he got his first computer. --Vic I did a clean reformat/reinstall for the parents of a friend of my son's. The computer was trashed by spyware. A week later, trashed again. Fixed it again, but this time, I got paid for the work, with $100 worth of tools from the father's Snap-On truck. You'd think that would've made the parents more vigilant. Nope. The computer was phuqued again about a month later. Their solution: Buy a new computer. Duh. |

And he don't have to give you tools. --Vic |

While I don't really like Bose at all for larger sound systems, no one does the small system sounding big better than Bose. A friend of mine has this: http://www.bose.com/controller?event...ltimedia_index and it's pretty amazing. Yes it's pricey, but if you hear one you'll pay the extra $100 or whatever the street price difference is between the bose and the rest. Steve |

In interviews, lots of musicians complain that they go to the trouble to create albums, not just individual songs. Some kids never get to hear the albums. And, they never see liner notes, which can lead to new musical discoveries. Buy an album, and find that maybe it's got Victor Wooten on bass. Buy a Victor Wooten album, and discover a drummer you like. Buy his album, and find a guitarist you never heard of. Pretty soon, you're broke, but you have lots of great music. Who cares really now. Like I tell my kids, if it was written after say, 76, I don't care anyway ![]() |

Dunkin' Donuts had the same effect on fine pastries. Whatcha gonna do? I'll be sure to tell my kids what you said, and they'll probably say they can find the liner notes on the web if they're interested. Or that they don't care about liner notes. You musicians have to look out for yourself and get people arrested and tossed in jail for stealing music. It's a dog eat dog digital world. --Vic Actually, if you read past the headlines, you'll find that the majority of musicians are not pleased with the legal nonsense perpetrated by the big record labels. And the price fixing on albums. Seems as if they are all about 19.99 minimum to $30+ these days. Costs about 25 cents to produce a CD with liner notes and jewell case. Maybe the artists should do some realistic pricing on their work. But then they could not live in the $20,000,000 house and pay for all the attorneys they need for the jams they get into. |

![]() "Eisboch" wrote in message ... "JoeSpareBedroom" wrote in message ... As of August, my son said Dave Brubeck was a snore. Last week, he said Dave Brubeck was god. It's amazing how much Brubeck changed since August. (Chuckle) Eisboch I remember Brubeck playing a performance at my high school. He grew up not far from my home town. Loved his music then and still do. Best live performance or at least in the top five in Brubeck at Carnegie Hall with Joe Morello's solo still the best drum solo I think ever played. I grew up in El Cerrito, which at one time, 1940's and 1950's had more jazz and music clubs than just about any venue in the West at least. Kona Club, Six Belles, It Club (also a strip joint), first strippers I ever saw and I was about 10 years old. Family friends owned the clubs. They had to wear pasties in those days. Counter rotation too. So we got lots of good groups performing at our high school as they were on the rise. |

You want to dock an iPod? I'd suggest appropriate fenders, and and adequate number of suitable sized mooring lines. |
