![]() "Harry Krause" wrote in message . .. ...I have encountered, to convert existing car audio so that it can handle an iPOD: http://peripheralelectronics.com/web/ipod2car.asp About $150 mail order retail, about $50 for pro install. Connects iPOD to connector behind OEM radio, so the sounds are hard-wired into your car radio, not "broadcast." Check it out. Harry, I have seen these devices at Crutchfield and other retailers. I considered going that route but when I put 2 cars and a boat in the mix the cost was not justified. The other downside is that the cd player has to be cut off for this hardware to work as it works off the cd player connector. My wife has a 6 disk player in her Highlander and would not be able to play her CD's in the car. So I decided on the cheap route for now............ I did however set up our 2 home theater systems (family room and recreation room) for iPOD playback and charge. Great sound on both systems with a 1,600 song library at the touch of a button. It is amazing how this tiny piece of hardware can interact with so many a/v devices in the home and on the move. ;-) |
