Wouldn't a 20 ft boat with maybe a 5 or 6 ft beam have something like
70 or 80 sq ft of working area ?

depends on if it's a cuddie or an open bow..

.. I have seen 18'
Bayliners 50 miles offshore, but the mfg'er would never call them an
offshore boat.

18' bayliner 50 mi. off shore?

Now THAT is taking ones life in their own hands!

yup, there are stupid people in the world. The fact that something is
done, does not mean it is a smart thing to do.

I have to ask, what is a 1600 lb firecracker? If you mean a horse, I
love horses, but I do approach an unknown horse with caution, just so he
can get used to me.

I never cared for horses, I got thrown a couple times when i was a
kid. Once the horse got stung by a bee.

I'd rather take my chance's with an old Ossa 250 , or Bultaco 360. At
least if you get thrown off of them, it's probably your own fault.

I am never apprehensive, that will get you hurt, that is my point. I

they will react to that above any reaction they have to my fear, even
though I do not doubt at all that they sense it. If I were to get
apprehensive or change the routine because of my fear, that's when the
trouble starts.

We got a stallion at the barn, men are not allowed to deal with, he
just doesn't like men. I have moved the horse a couple of times, today
was one. I got him to the stall and started taking off the halter and
he reared back (not toward me) so I stood in, told him to calm down,
stepped into him and continued to undress him. Trust me I was scared
****less the whole time, but he reacted to my actions, not my
emotion... I try not to think about it until after.. then only to see
if I could have done something better. At the same time, I find that I
like the adreaneline shock too;)-

I'm glad he's yours. If it was mine he'd already be glue.

Right now, I would not even consider owning a horse, too many
responsibilities and risks. Leases are cheap, we actually got an offer
from the other side of the state for a free lease, just come and tend/
work the horse at least 4 days a week.

a few years ago we chartered a boat for a days run. At about 12 miles
out we saw some folks in what looked like a 16 ft jon boat. The charter
captain just looked down and said Oh-my-gosh :-)

If it floats - people will try it..
