There is going to be a huge backlash on Google stock eventually - you
heard it here first.

Within five years - bet on it.

Commercial interests are putting out false information, it seems.

AS I have reported before, I'm in possession of a new Nokia N800 Linux-
powered internet tablet. Nokia also produces a really fantastic
Bluetooth-connected 12 channel WAAS GPS receiver for this and their phone
devices. The device comes with a license for Navicore, a locked up,
commercial street navigator I wish I could get a refund on without
sending back the GPS, which I can't. The reason is quite simple....Maemo
Mapper....

The hackers have taken the concept of Google Earth and put it in my
pocket, connected to several FREE map sources of maps, satellite photos,
even topographical maps I can select, even add to if there are new ones.
The software, Maemo Mapper, for this little internet tablet is free, open
source Linux software in the Linux tradition.

"So what?"

The only backlash Google may feel is from the commercial map sellers
trying to find a way to put a stop to them feeding me free data. If
boaters can get Google interested in MARINE CHARTING, Garmin and the
others selling data the PUBLIC PAID FOR will come to an end.

Maemo Mapper is a simply fantastic tool. It puts your vehicle in the
exact parking space of the satellite photo, following you around that
satellite photo, overlaid with street information, WHILE YOU WALK! You
don't need to be connected to the data over wifi or cellphone, either.
You can upload the photos/maps to the 8GB SD cards (2) in the tablet
before you leave your computer room....all free. Virtual Earth maps and
data work best, here. It's uncanny how accurate it is....

search youtube for Maemo Mapper and see how it works....

I can't imagine a "Google backlash" when they're giving Google Earth and
all the data necessary to make it work, away for FREE. I CAN see a
backlash of Garmin who loves to produce proprietary maps, then stop
supporting them so you have to replace a perfectly good working GPS every
so often because of non-support. Damn them!
