Just got back from fishing out on the Bay and am cooling off while the
engine is flushing. Man, it was H-O-T out there, at least 85F and a bit higher in some places, with the water temp still in the low to mid 70's. Beautiful day, 1' "rollers," light winds, and a half dozen bluefish came along for entertainment. Lots of boats out today, and the usual early fall parade of RV trawlers and other barge-type boats panting their way south for the winter. I suppose out in Seattle, the ice boating season has started. :} |

For sure it wasn't H-O-T, with the temp hitting the 90's like it did here. One thing I never did, after the first time, was go fishing on the Bay on a weekend. Just too damn many fools out there! |

It was crowded, but just about everyone except the snowbirds was a fisherperson. Hit the buoys for some spot bait, then went over to the Choptank. |

I would think that would have calmed down until the fall. I'm actually looking forward to getting the new boat out there. I was going to get rid of my trolling rods, but now I think I'll hang onto them. The 4Runner arrived. I love the way it drives, and can't believe the acceleration the damn thing has. Glad I bought it. It did come with the Michellin tires you mentioned. Yeah, I actually saw some guys using umbrellas. I didn't see anyone catching a "keeper" rock, though. Lots and lots of bluefish all over the place, plus lots of scared baitfish, diving birds, jumping fish. For me, the most enjoyable fishing is usually now through Thanksgiving, assuming it cools down. I think the 4Runner is the *best* SUV on the road. I'm thinking of trading in our 2004 for a current model. I really like it and to date, it has been 100% reliable. I *don't* much like the tire pressure warning gizmos, though. Have you noticed the little mirrors in the corners in the rear, just above the tailgate class? :} |

"As a matter of fact, I've tried to lay off the rancorous posts. Ever thought of it?" Looks like you'd better start 'thinking'.............. Harry realizes I wasn't referring to him. Harry, if you thought I was referring to you, then I should have excluded you. Sorry if you took offense. Remember, Don, I try my damnedest not to call names. By the way, you seem to have missed this: ************************************************** ************************ How's the boat, the mom, the son, and the wife? When my daughter dropped out of college and decided to make a nest in my house, I started charging her $200 a month rent. For some reason she found this hard to abide. So she moved into an apartment with several other girls. That lasted about six months, and she then decided to return to college. That entitled her to move back into the house. She then became a nurse. Just a thought, for what it's worth. So now you've lowered yourself to the Dingy Dan level. Now it's not just my mom...it's my wife & son too! Funny thing...you don't expect ant better from Dan, but you tried to pass yourself off as a 'law & order' man. I guess that old saying...'it all comes out in the wash' does make sense here. Did I say something offensive, or are you just looking for a made up excuse to be rancorous? How would we know anything about your wife, your mom, or your son if you hadn't told us? I passed along a tip that worked with my daughter. I don't believe I said anything at all about your son or your wife. ************************************************** ********************** |

There were a ton of boats out fishing off of Kent Island today near the R88 buoy. We were headed east, not south, still looking for foto ops. From Annapolis we took a little excursion up the Wye River and ended up in St Micheals as we close in on the quarry. The bay was nearly flat except for the occasional freighter wake. |

I finally took it around the block this morning, just to see what it felt like. The 4Runner will be redesigned for 2009, so hold on before getting a new one. The Highlander was redone this year (2008) and the 4Runner is next. I'll probably be wanting to trade mine in. We'll see! Well, if they dump the truck frame for a unibody, I won't want one. That's part of the strength of the 4Runner...the frame. |
