Man, it was H-O-T out there, at least 85F and a bit higher in some places, with the water temp still in the low to mid 70's. Beautiful day, 1' "rollers," light winds, and a half dozen bluefish came along for entertainment. Lots of boats out today, and the usual early fall parade of RV trawlers and other barge-type boats panting their way south for the winter. I suppose out in Seattle, the ice boating season has started. :} Have you ever been out on Puget Sound? Today the temp was in the 60's, cloudy. Great weather for fishing. For sure it wasn't H-O-T, with the temp hitting the 90's like it did here. One thing I never did, after the first time, was go fishing on the Bay on a weekend. Just too damn many fools out there! It was crowded, but just about everyone except the snowbirds was a fisherperson. Hit the buoys for some spot bait, then went over to the Choptank. Is there a lot of trolling going on now? I would think that would have calmed down until the fall. I'm actually looking forward to getting the new boat out there. I was going to get rid of my trolling rods, but now I think I'll hang onto them. The 4Runner arrived. I love the way it drives, and can't believe the acceleration the damn thing has. Glad I bought it. It did come with the Michellin tires you mentioned. Yeah, I actually saw some guys using umbrellas. I didn't see anyone catching a "keeper" rock, though. Lots and lots of bluefish all over the place, plus lots of scared baitfish, diving birds, jumping fish. For me, the most enjoyable fishing is usually now through Thanksgiving, assuming it cools down. I think the 4Runner is the *best* SUV on the road. I'm thinking of trading in our 2004 for a current model. I really like it and to date, it has been 100% reliable. I *don't* much like the tire pressure warning gizmos, though. Have you noticed the little mirrors in the corners in the rear, just above the tailgate class? :} No, I've not even read the book. I finally took it around the block this morning, just to see what it felt like. The 4Runner will be redesigned for 2009, so hold on before getting a new one. The Highlander was redone this year (2008) and the 4Runner is next. I'll probably be wanting to trade mine in. We'll see! Well, if they dump the truck frame for a unibody, I won't want one. That's part of the strength of the 4Runner...the frame. |
