What are you doing up at that ungodly hour? It is the best time of the day to get some work done. No phone calls and no interruptions. |

When I was fighting the corporate wars, I always got in by 5:30 AM, cleared my desk, did what ever was left over, got the day's schedule rolling. Got more done between 5:30 and 9 AM than I did the entire rest of the day. |

It was most amusing when the engineers that worked for me came in and on their desks was anything that I needed done that day - no messing around - their tasks were set. I used to intentionally call staff meetings for 7 AM - heh, heh, heh. Didn't do it often, but just to shake things up and keep everybody on their toes. |

The purpose was to find any blown bridges, cratered roads, or other impediments to traffic created by the bad guys overnight. We'd take off before the sun came up. That daily hour or so will always be one of my life's highlights. |

It was incredible - beautiful wouldn't be too strong a word to use. Hard to believe there was a war on. |

I once, over there, got a ride in an OV-10 supporting a Phantom mission followed by a bomb run by some Aussie Canberras. The pilot then took me for a ride around the country and showed off his airplane with some stunts. It was, as you say, hard to believe there was a war on. The folks gave me a 'Bronco Buster' certificate after the ride. Oh, and thank God they put barf bags in OV-10's! http://www.fas.org/irp/program/collect/ov-10.htm |
