Albacore, but decent chance at smaller Bluefin and Yellowfin tuna. The time I did it was out of Santa Cruz. We had to go out about 30 miles, but the wx was gorgeous, and we all caught albacore. --Mike "Calif Bill" wrote in message ... "Mike" wrote in message et... I would go but the fish are about 40 miles from the harbor and my boat only does about 120 miles on a tank. Just not enough cushion if the weather turns nasty. Off to Denver this weekend for a cousins family get together. |

Tuna are migratory and can be elusive. Four years ago when I had a fishing boat it was a really big deal if anybody came in with a yellowfin tuna in Cape Cod Bay. They usually started showing up around the middle of August. This year tuna were plentiful in the Bay in June and have remained all summer. The charter guys and most recreational guys with the right gear have very rarely been skunked on any outing. Apparently, there's bluefin as well on the south side of the Cape out beyond the Vineyard. Just some years the window is very small where they are close enough for the private boats to run for them. Off Oregon, they come in closer due to the current flows. |

Lots of things for her to do and buy while you catch fish. |

That would lead to a public hanging in Charleston....complete with pirate costumes and our resident Davy Jones from over at Ripley Light Marina across the river. Dock parties, here, are spelled: BLUE CRABS - FRESH OYSTERS - SHRIMP - FISH (Grouper/Snapper/etc.) It's amazing how much cooking equipment appears when you bring 4 burlap sacks full of Oysters and 4 bushels of insanely mad crabs down the dock...(c; What about beverages? Anyone have a TailGator to make girlie drinks? http://www.tailgatorzone.com/ You can't make proper dock drinks without the blender smelling like an old Evinrude...(c; I bring the Buffett, Gully Roosters, Carolina Beach Music, etc., on the DJ machine.
