May be true for Merc, but the Optimax is not going anywhere for a long
time for a variety of reasons.


Evinrude only builds two strokes.

That's right...the smaller four cycle evinrudes are called johnsons.


I drove that Ranger and got a good ride around Fishers Island Sound,
the race, etc. It is so frekin' smooth in the chop or in acceleration.
The other un-noticable thing is the noise, it is very quiet, you can
talk while cruising at 4500, no problem. You all know I don't have a
lot of experience with larger engines but when you throttle up the
Ranger, you feel like you got a set of 50's and positraction, Never
felt power delivered so smoothly. 20 foot Ranger, 200 E-TEC/90 degree
head, 4 blade SS prop.
