Because the thermometer record from ground stations is contaminated by
poor station locations, we need good temperature proxies as a function of year to "investigate" global warming. So, I suggest the following: 1. The per capita consumption of "Big Gulp" sodas at convenience stores. 2. The per capita amount spent on air conditioning. 3. The number of visits to municipal pools 4. The per capita amount spent on water toys 5 The ratio of money spent in the AC comfort of enclosed malls to that spent in isolated mom and pop stores. 6. The number of movies about penguins (desire for cold weather). 7. The fraction of cars with AC 8. Rising cost of a lift ticket at a ski resort (this relates to the scarcity of snow) 9. Number of retirees who die of heatstroke in AZ retirement cities. 10. Popularity of Starbucks frozen lattes 11. Reduced fatal car accident rates in snow It is really alarming that ALL of these proxies show massive amounts of warming in recent years. Because good Global Warming Science depends on use of proxies, I ask other people for their ideas of such proxies. |
