We were the last flight he was in charge of, as his next duty was as head DI for the USAF. We learned a lot about life and survival from him. And that was 1965. Why would an Jarhead enlist in the AirForce? I guess it was for the clean sheets, air conditioning and hot food in the chow hall, I mean dining facility. Better pay? My bet...........Jarheads.........hands down. ;-) Nope, Air Force wins. Them Jarheads like hand to hand stuff. The Air Force likes to reach out and touch them from a distance. Maybe 50,000 feet. Air Force does one thing that the military does very well. Proably better than any other branch.
