It wanted 8-17 pound test line, but would not even adjust enough drag for 4 pound. Tried two of them, finally gave up. I will keep looking but I did get an old one I had rebuilt. It works ok, but I still prefer my little spinning rods. I've got a 6000-C which is easily adjusted for 4lb drag, though I never go that light with it. It replaced my old 5000 which my son now has. The 6000-C is about 15 years old, and frankly I haven't taken good care of it. Only rinsed it with fresh water and oiled it a couple times. --Vic I should note that my problem with the reel was no high tension drag. If you tighten it up even to it's max, you could still strip 6-8 pound without breaking it. No pressure on the drag, even though they reccomended up to 17 pound test line. Are you sure the line is not slipping on the spool? I've never had this problem with mono line but when I first started using the "super" lines I did have a problem, If you're using the super lines tie a few feet of mono to the end that attaches to the spool.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Hummmm, I did not specifically look for that, but I was looking close enough that I can say it probably was not slipping on the spool. I use regular mono, installed at the local sport and bait shop. |
