Default white water rafting in midwest

My family is planning on going white water rafting sometime in the
next couple weeks. We have never done this before. I was just
curious to hear where you guys think is the best place to go. We are
from the quad cities and would like to go somewhere within 8 or 9
hours.

Thanks

The quad cities? What or where, pray tell, is the quad cities?

Originally Davenport, Rock Island, Moline, and East Moline.
Now Bettendorf replaces East Moline so it's really the quint cities.

I think it's a (somewhat funny) troll, Walt.

Didn't know you read this group! Howdy from an RSA lurker.

Yeah, but I mostly lurk. Didn't know you lurked on RSA.

If the OP was located elsewhere in the midwest I might have been able to
direct him in the appropriate direction, but Moline/Davenport isn't my
area of expertise. Maybe somewhere in the Ozarks or northern Wisconsin?

The only one that I have seen (haven't gotten friends together for it yet)
is on the St Louis River, just south of Duluth MN. If you are into camping,
Jay Cooke park is right there.

Yer gonna have to drive 10 or 11 hours (measured from Moline) for good
whitewater rafting.

Ohiopyle, PA
Fayetteville, WV
Copperhill, TN

Or 14 hours to Buena Vista, CO

Google "USA Raft", "Ocoee River Raft", or "Ohiopyle Raft" for
Appalachian options.

Well, they can get wet on the Wolf river in Wisconsin or at the East Race
in Southbend. I'm sure the Vermilion isn't doing much this time of year.

Some of the pics are a bit blurry, they are snaps off a video from a camcorder
that was in a ewa-marine case (we filmed as we went down in a raft)
