white water rafting in midwest
My family is planning on going white water rafting sometime in the
next couple weeks. We have never done this before. I was just curious to hear where you guys think is the best place to go. We are from the quad cities and would like to go somewhere within 8 or 9 hours. Thanks |

Originally Davenport, Rock Island, Moline, and East Moline. Now Bettendorf replaces East Moline so it's really the quint cities. I think it's a (somewhat funny) troll, Walt. Didn't know you read this group! Howdy from an RSA lurker. |

If the OP was located elsewhere in the midwest I might have been able to direct him in the appropriate direction, but Moline/Davenport isn't my area of expertise. Maybe somewhere in the Ozarks or northern Wisconsin? //Walt |

The only one that I have seen (haven't gotten friends together for it yet) is on the St Louis River, just south of Duluth MN. If you are into camping, Jay Cooke park is right there. www.minnesotawhitewater.com/ You might want to check out rivers in Wisconsin - www.kosirs.com/Minnesota.html -- Bill Fuhrmann |

Well, they can get wet on the Wolf river in Wisconsin or at the East Race in Southbend. I'm sure the Vermilion isn't doing much this time of year. Some of the pics are a bit blurry, they are snaps off a video from a camcorder that was in a ewa-marine case (we filmed as we went down in a raft) http://www.chicagopaddling.org/southbend.html -- John Nelson ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chicago Area Paddling/Fishing Page http://www.chicagopaddling.org http://www.chicagofishing.org (A Non-Commercial Web Site: No Sponsors, No Paid Ads and Nothing to Sell) |
