you can still buy a decent 1/4 acre waterfront lot for about $500K.

Jeezum and I thought land values around here were ridiculous.

In Kalifornia that same lot would be worth oh, $5-mil, wouldn't it?

That is seeing it's been said that the cost of living is 10 times
higher on the left coast....

At the rate for a 1/4 acre in Florida, my property would be worth
$646,000,000.

HOLY S**T!!

Just think! You could sell out and invest in concrete futures!

Only if Basskisser was running the company.

Great boat.

My old dentist up north charters one out of Chatham on the Cape for
striper fishing.

I think a 1/4 acre along the Connecticut shore would be worth at least
as much, probably a good bit more in some towns.

I can honestly say that I've never heard of a piece of land in CT
going for $500K a .25 acre.

And I know for a fact that my place isn't worth any where near $646
milllion dollars. :)

Sounds like you need to scoop it up into a bunch of dump trucks and
haul it to Florida.

It seems ideal for fishing, although it has the engine doghouse in the
cockpit. (His has the Perkins diesel). The boat seems to sit heavy towards
the bow though ... he had a problem with the bilge pump and all the water
was running forward. I also noticed that yesterday, after some rain, that
his cockpit had a bit of standing water in it. The way the boat sits it
doesn't seem to naturally run off through the scuppers. Maybe he just has a
lot of stuff stored up in the cabin area.

I was just thinking about that.

I wonder what a 320 acre island a mile or so off-shore would being in
terms of dollars.

I can tell you that an offer of $2 million was turned down by the owners
of a gas pipeline company for an unused offshore LNG pumping station.

There's such a station about a mile offshore in Chesapeake Bay, though
it is being used for its intended purpose now. It's called the "gas
docks." It's a very large concrete structure. About five years ago or
so, a group of us were going to pool some resources and prepare a bid to
take over the platform and turn it into an "offshore" gambling casino,
tackle shop, bar and whorehouse. One of us, a real estate lawyer,
prepared a bid letter and sent it off to the company that controlled the
platform. Unfortunately, they weren't interested in selling. :)

These days, the platform is being used to offload tankers. Too bad. It
would have made one hell of a party platform.
