Has anyone used a heavier flywheel upgrade? I’m contemplating
switching from the 80lb unit on my F/L 120 to the 200lb wheel that is offered as an option, the wheel is purported to smooth out the engine but I was wondering if the effect really would be noticible. -- Posted at author's request, using http://www.BoatingForumz.com interface Articles individually verified to usenet standards. I don't know what a "F/L 120" is but that seems like a pretty big flywheel.
Flywheel on my gm 350 is probably around 30-40lbs I'd guess. Tradeoff on any flywheel is that heavier is smoother running to a point but also slower to accelerate. On a boat acceleration is not much of an issue. No big consequence in trying it but usually a chore to change flywheels though.
