Default mariner 40 hp tilt trim problem

My tilt and trim was making a gurgling noise so I figured there was
air in the system I tried bleeding out the air and it started sounding
worse kind of rattling. Now it is not going up or down. All you can
hear now is a slight hissing noise, and the motor is pretty warm. can
anyone tell me what the problem is? I have a 1988 mariner 40 h.p. the
motor has two wires one blue one green.
