Default navigation lights.

Once again, the more I see the more I need....

This Marquis, has the dinky little "bullet" type navigation lights on
the sides, right next right next to the back of the glass side shields
, and they don't work. Switch is good and power source is good too. I
havent gone in to test the power and ground wires...yet.

But thats besides the point. I don't like the idea of the little
lights on the side, due to visability, and seeing they are about
midships, that doesn't have much of anything th show other boaters you
have anything on the bow, or at least, hat's my opinion.

I still have the old bow/navigation light from my now defunct
ChrisCraft Cavalier, and figure that seeing I'm working on the inside
of the cuddy interior, I may as well mount it and do away with the side
lights. My opinion, is that just because it's legal and stylish(?)
doesn't mean it's the safest way to go, and it would be a lot easier
to wire in because it would simply demand wires from the bow light to
the switch. instead of wiring both sides.

Now, I notice that this doesn't have a stern "Pole" light like what you
would find popular on many boats, but rather a light mounted right
above the outdrive close to the top of the hull. I figured this was to
light the swim deck, but maybe that is the Nav. light?

I thought they had to be mounted higher? Even though I don't like the
pole light, because it shines behind you and is an annoyance, Would I
be OK to leave the aft light as it is, or would you recommend a pole
light? Again, I'm looking at the safety factor...

Always, thanks again!
