It's a Nikkor lens:

This lens was really designed for the "N" series of Nikon Cameras. It
is a cheaply made lens that will give you very soft images. You can buy
this lens for $80 - $100 on it's own. Again, do a search to review the
lens, and you will be hard pressed to find someone who likes the lens.
It appears that Ritz purchased this as an overstock from Nikon since
very few people are buying "N" series lens. This was a piece of ****
even for the "N" series. Without a quality lens, you are better buying
a point and shot camera.

In the real world you get what you pay for.

If you want a nice, reasonable priced, decent lens buy:

or

or

body only

and then buy the lens you want designed for the "D" series.

The most popular lens for the D50 is :

The problem is it is on backorder with everyone. I just received mine
after 5 months of waiting.

Bassy,
When you are looking at DSLR it is important to remember that the camera
body gives you features, but it is the lens that will have the biggest
impact on the quality of the photo. You can buy a Pro model camera body
for $5000, if you put a cheap $80 lens on the body, you will not be
pleased with the quality anymore than you will with a cheap lens on the
Nikon D50.

If you use a quality lens on a Nikon D50 you can get very good results.

Based upon your desire to get a inexpensive camera and lens combo, I
really think you would prefer a point and shot camera by Nikon or Canon.
