Bassy,
When you are looking at DSLR it is important to remember that the camera
body gives you features, but it is the lens that will have the biggest
impact on the quality of the photo.

Same holds true for film cameras. Plus you need to know nuances of each
type of film.

If you know this, why are you looking at cheap $80 lens that you will
not be happy with? Why throw away $50? Buy a D50 body for $549 and
then buy the exact quality lens that you want, instead of the crappy one
they are putting together in a package to make it look like a good deal.

If I was buying my camera body today, I would buy the new D80, all the
features of the D200 in a consumer plastic body (same plastic as the D50
and D70)

You can buy a Pro model camera body
for $5000, if you put a cheap $80 lens on the body, you will not be
pleased with the quality anymore than you will with a cheap lens on the
Nikon D50.

If you use a quality lens on a Nikon D50 you can get very good results.

Based upon your desire to get a inexpensive camera and lens combo, I
really think you would prefer a point and shot camera by Nikon or Canon.

Nope, already have a point and shoot. Being an SLR amateur photographer
for about 25 years, I can't stand it!
