You do what the Coast Guardsmen to be able to hit the targerts they are
shooting at when it really counts don't you. Well, you have to make it a
real as possible. And, an on the hard firing range won't cut it.

1) On Lake Ontario, the areas have been placed in 3 of the busiest boating
lanes.

In the Chesapeake and along the Virginia Capes there are quite a few
areas that are set aside for military training. The are marked on the
charts and are cleared before any of the bombing or shooting occurs.

Fact of life now, just deal with it.

2) Guns which are attached to the boat must be practiced with on the water.
These are not the weapons mentioned in the article.

What weapons is the CG mounting on their small craft interdiction boats
these days. 40mm? 20mm? 50Cal.? 7.62?
