Finally gotten around to looking through some more of my Hawaii photos from last fall. This is one of the shots that brings me happy memories. http://tinyurl.com/p4mbd Interesting clouds, interesting diversity of land use. This shot was taken from the edge of the rim of Diamondhead, the extinct (hopefully) volcano that dominates much of the island visually. Looking East. |

Say "looking Koko Head" (from Diamond Head) If you're looking west, say "Ewa" (from Diamond Head.) If your looking east and you're Ewa of Diamond Head, you say "Diamond Head." To the ocean, it's makai. Towards the mountains, it's mauka. I was right, I just used the Haoli word. And it's pronounced "Eva" (a "W" between two vowels is pronounced like a "V" thus Hawai'i is correctly pronounced "Havai'i" Depends upon when you lived there and how you were being taught in school. BTW, my grandmother is a graduate of Punahou High School. teaching mode turned off Eddie |

And, I know quite a bit about the beaches all along the southern coast. |

When you lived there and went to the beach, did the horizon list about 4 degrees to starboard, or did that just start happening within the last year or so? I don't recall it looking like that when I was last there, but apparently that was the state of things when you-know-who graced the island with his presence. |
