This is a "for pay" upgrade and you need to look carefully at the changes to determine if there is anything there for you yet... or not. The destination on the Forte "road map" is sure to please nearly everyone, but IMHO we "aren't there yet..." Work continues on 4.1..... If you are a fan of Free Agent, be advised that Version 3.3 is THE LAST VERSION of the "free" version. ALSO BE ADVISED that, depending on your current version of Free Agent or Agent, an upgrade may alter your (Agent) file structure such that, without good backups, you cannot go back to an earlier version. I am an unabashed fan of the vision of Forte, but I do think prudence is required in users looking to upgrade. Caveat Emptor... Here are some of the new features: Stolen from: Newsgroups: alt.usenet.offline-reader.forte-agent Greetings, Forte is pleased to announce the general release of Agent 4.0. A major upgrade, Agent 4.0 has functionality that benefits every Agent user. In response to customer feedback, the focus of Agent 4.0 is to improve significantly the features you use every day. So, whether you use Agent for text groups, binary groups or email, we think you'll love this upgrade. Here's just a small sample of the features in Agent 4.0: Usenet Features * Images display in a separate preview window or within the message body pane * Enhanced crosspost detection * Ignore sub-thread * Auto-save binary attachments by file extension * User-defined prioritization of tasks such as getting headers, getting small bodies and posting messages * Usenet filter expressions based on the "Newsgroups:" header * Sort folders in the "Folders" pane * Hide the "All Folders" desk Email Features * Optional display of HTML formatted messages * Only display HTML images for contacts that you trust * Email junk detection using Bayesian statistics * New address book design for storing contacts, domains, and mailing lists * Automatically route and file email message based on your address book * Automatically train Agent junk and routing simply by filing messages * Email routing report to review how recent emails were received and routed. Agent 4.0 is available as an upgrade for $19 or $29 for a new purchase. See www.forteinc.com for full details. Regards, The Forté Team I'm still using 1.91/32 and wouldn't switch for the world. It's easy and does all I want. I upgraded once, but was glad I'd kept the old version. The new one is gone, and the old one is back. -- ****************************************** ***** Have a Spectacular Day! ***** ****************************************** John |

If it does what you need, I don't blame you. I needed multi-server support for both usenet and email. One of the big ones for me was ignore sub-thread. I use it a lot in some other groups that have a lot of thread drift. I also have some people kill filed and now it just ignores their post and the follow-ups. -- Jim Rusling More or Less Retired Mustang, OK http://www.rusling.org |
