I believe they use compression fitttings on the tubing. If I remember
correctly they had those little brass inserts that went inside the tubing as well as the brass collar that compressed. You may be able to just get a fitting to splice the cut tube from lowes. I believe the fitting that went through the transom was pipe thread where it connects to the hydralic cylinders on the outside and can be unscrewed form the inside. I put atf fluid in mine. Power steering fluid probably works as well as any other light oil. You do need to make sure that you don't apply power to both directions at once. The motor seems to have independent windings for forward and reverse rather than actually reversing the polarity. If you have to experiment with the switch to figure out which wire goes where keep that in mind. The motor goes slower in reverse. I presume so that the retract speed is about the same as the extend speed. Mine takes about 8 seconds to go fully in either direction. There is no load shutoff or pressure relief on mine so it will stall or come close to stalling at full extension and full retraction. I try not to do that too long as I figure it can't be good for it. wrote: It is a bennett, I was able to trace all the wires and tubes. Its does not look to be hooked up. 2 hoses come off the pump, one goes to the port side stern to a 90 degree nipple inside of stern, matches to out side of port trim arm. Other tube is cut and has a nice little spider nest in it ![]() power. Any tips I need to know before I start? Thanks to all the posters again, has been very helpful! |
