Personal info is not an answer to online creditability, personal behavior is. JimH and others now know Volvo spec'd his engine to use a 160 degree thermostat, an engine is a integrated system, you can not change part of that system, without effecting other parts of that system. Someone mentioned the lower operating temp of 140 degree will result in fouled plugs and a build up of carbon. A 25 degree temp. range for a fresh water cooled engine is unusual, and should not be ignored until the end of the season. When you have a problem with your engine, you should never use Usenet to trouble shoot and then pick and choose the answer you want to use based upon whom you like, which answers will result in the lowest cost to you, or which answers you were hoping for. Usenet will never replace a reliable mechanic actually placing his hands on and looking at your engine. I wish I was wrong, but I think there are people who like to use personal info as a vehicle to hijack every thread into a personal battle. There are also news reports of people who have use personal info provided in Usenet for ID theft for personal gain or other unsavory reasons. While there are many in Usenet I would enjoy boating or fishing with, kicking back and having a beer, there are some that I think are mentally unstable, and I do worry what they would do with personal information. For that reason, I do follow the advice of ALL INTERNET SECURITY EXPERTS, and keep all personal information out of Usenet. I was amazed that none of the real experts jumped into the thermostat debate or the temperature fluctuation discussion.
