I will let them slide on this one but will make sure it the impeller is replaced every 2 years in spring prior to launch. No sense monkeying around with a $40 part. snip.. Wonder if they ever charged you for that service they didn't perform? Nope. And I found out how the "diagnosed" the impeller to come to the conclusion I did not need to replace it................they ran the engine for an hour, including a spin out on the Lake and watched the temperature gauge. I am only going to use these guys for basic maintenance and repair, and I will be replacing the impeller myself in the future just before Spring launch. I no longer have any confidence in their mechanical abilities. As a side note.........my Volvo repair manual says the engine takes a 160F thermostat and that is what I installed in spring. The mechanic who worked on my boat says it takes a 140F thermostat and that is what he installed. The engine is a 1997 Volvo Penta 4.3L with an SX outdrive. Will running the wrong thermostat temp have a negative effect on the engine's performance? |
